My Favorite Stitch Fix Yet: What I Did Differently to Love Every Item (PLUS a Fun Stitch Fix Announcement!)

What I Did Differently to Get My Favorite Stitch Fix Yet

I am so excited! It’s Spring! I’m not going to have a baby in four weeks and spend my whole summer feeling very postpartum like last year.

So, I decided to celebrate by ordering a Spring Fix from Stitch Fix! I scheduled it several weeks ago, and the anticipation has been killing me! I love this form of shopping because:

  1. It is self-moderating! I only shop through five items, and those only infrequently. So that forces me to pace myself, which is wonderful since I don’t have the funds to build a quality wardrobe quickly!
  2. Someone else styles me. That is perfect for me! It’s not my gift, and shopping is tough in this season of life.
  3. I get my husband’s opinion on everything before I buy. That is a huge advantage! I wouldn’t get this otherwise.
  4. I have time to think about the items in comparison to what I already have and in the comfort of my home.
  5. The clothes are very nice! They are priced at their true value in my opinion.

The day finally came yesterday! This is my fourth fix to date, and I made one major change this time.

What I Did Differently

Stitch Fix gives you the ability to specify exactly what you want them to send. This is nice if you need something specific. So in the past I’ve always included very detailed “notes” about what I want to see in my fix. This wasn’t working out too well, honestly. Because I had something very specific in mind, it was almost impossible for them to meet my “expectation.”

Over the course of the past three fixes I have purchased four items. That’s not bad, considering I do want to pace myself and only buy what I love, plus the things I have bought from them are hands-down my favorite clothes.

However, this time around, I decided to try another approach. I had already filled out my Style Profile thoughtfully, and created a Pinterest board to represent my style, as they request, but beyond that, I left the note totally blank.

Rather than trying to micromanage the process, I decided to let them do their thing! I let them surprise me!

Because that’s more fun anyway, right?

And the result?

I LOVED my fix! In fact, I’m keeping every item, which is AWESOME because that means I get a 25% discount. If you do the math, that more than pays for one of the items!

Here’s what I got!

Kent Capri Skinny Jean: $88

Stitch Fix has never sent me a pair of pants that I haven’t loved! Their pants are amazing! This is my one piece of advice for anyone ordering a fix for the first time. Forget what I said above about not leaving a not, and request a pair of pants! I pretty much live in the skinny jeans they sent me back in the fall.

This is the one and only category I selected above the minimum price range. I think it’s worth a little more to have good denim.

Also, I am hoping to transition my summer wardrobe to be a bit more modest this summer (aka, I want to get away from anything shorter than Bermuda shorts), so these capris are perfect!

It’s so nice that Stitch Fix allows you to detail the modest level you desire!

Verdict: Keep!

Asher Woven Back Knit Top: $58

I love this top! It is a soft, thin knit in a gorgeous navy with a floral insert in the back. It pairs perfectly with the white capris!

I love how everything in this fix is meant to be worn together!

It’s very flattering, and it’s exactly the type of thing I love to wear! It’s lose but not baggy, and perfect for these breezy Spring days!

Way to go Kristin (my stylist this time around) for picking out some wonderful items for me!

Verdict: Keep!

Clara enjoyed posing with me. 🙂 She loves this whole process. We are two peas in a pod!

Donavon Crochet Detail Knit Top: $54

The color of this top is so pretty! I love the neckline and detail! It’s basic and not flashy, but striking in it’s own way. Not too bright, but very colorful.

Verdict: Keep!

Bucky V Neck Knit Tank Top:$48

I don’t know how well you can see it in the photo, but the heathered texture on this fabric is beautiful! I loved it before I even pulled it out of the box. Not to mention this shade of pink is my color!

It’s comfortable, colorful and perfect for my closet!

Verdict: Keep!

Callie Denim Jacket: $78

First of all, I did not realize I was striking the same pose for every picture! Lol! I will try to mix it up more next time.

Secondly, I wasn’t sure about this jacket at first. The wash is a little retro, which is outside of my box. However, as I wore it around and thought about it, as I realized how well it fit me and how soft and comfortable it was, as I noticed how cute it looked with the capris and pink tank, and as I calculated that it would actually be cheaper for me to keep than to send it back (with the Buy 5 Discount), it became a no-brainer!

Verdict: Keep!

So, if you’re interested in Stitch Fix, it’s a great time of year to give it a try!

If you like any of the styles I received, simply Pin them to your own Stitch Fix Style Pinterest board! My stylist told me she pulled from my board to create this fix! I had forgotten what I’d pinned, but the process obviously works!

Are you ready for the fun announcement?

Stitch Fix has just announced they can now style you from head to toe withe the introduction of shoes to their lineup!

Back in the Fall I was disappointed I couldn’t get shoes through Stitch Fix. I knew this was one item I would be content spending $50-$100 on, since I’d much rather have a few pairs of good-quality, comfortable shoes that last for years, than a huge heap of cheap, uncomfortable ones.

I requested ankle boots in my first fix. At the time they apologized and told me they were working on offering shoes. And now, the wait is over!

Look at these cute options!

I didn’t have time to get a pair in this fix, but I hope to in the next! For those of you who already have a Stitch Fix account, be sure to go in and update your style profile with your shoe size!

What do you think about my fix?

I have recently ordered my 3rd Stitch Fix and it shipped today! I snuck a peek at what they sent and my order included shoes! I am so excited for it to get here! Thus far in my Stitch Fix history I have kept everything. Kayla has been my stylists and did a great job!

  2. Jami Balmet says:

SO cute!!! I need to do another order soon with shoes 😀 I love that you kept all five items. I did that last time and was so happy!! Now I’m itching to do another box… 😉

  3. Jan Bennett says:

I love every one of your new items! (and the model!)

  4. Chantel says:

Cute clothes! 😀 I just ordered my first box…I’m so nervous, because I’m picky! I also don’t like to spend a lot on my clothes.. So, we’ll see. I’m also quite excited to have someone style me! Yay! 😀

    • Awesome! Let me know how it turns out!!

The box came yesterday! It was a lot of fun! I loved the experience, but the clothes were a bit expensive. I asked for the lowest price point, and received a $98 item (which was my favorite, of course, but I didn’t buy it because of the price). I definitely received items I wouldn’t have picked out for myself, and I actually liked all but one item. It was the price of each item that was the main problem. Also, I learned something! I need to request items that are machine wash, machine dry! 😉 Three of the items were either hand wash or dry clean only. I learned a lot, actually, and I’ve updated my profile 🙂 If I do it again, I know it’ll be better 🙂 I sent everything back, by the way. It was a bummer, but, like I said, I LOVED the experience! I’m super happy for you and everyone else who has an awesome experience with Stitch Fix! 😀

    • Thanks for the update Chantel! That all sounds about right. I actually have learned to request machine wash items too, and things I can wear with a normal bra, lol! Hopefully it goes better next time!
