How to Enjoy What You Have Rather Than Desiring What You Don't Have

Contentment is a daily discipline. It’s something I think about. After experiencing its fruit in my life, I’ve learned to love it –to make the choice. I’ve learned to seek it out.

As Paul says in Philippians 4:12-13,

“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” (NIV)

While I don’t know what it is to be in need, I do know the struggle of contentment in the midst of plenty. Isn’t it interesting that the famous verse, “I can do all things through Christ,” was written in the context of contentment?

This is a big deal!

So I’ve been thinking about how contentment is fostered practically.
