Don't forget to live for God in the Midst of Life's Uncertainties

Lately I’ve watched friends go through seasons of unknowns. These are seasons with which I, too, am well acquainted.

Whether it’s waiting for a job opportunity, selling a home, trying to get pregnant, waiting for test results, or worse, so often we must wait to see how God will work things out. So often we are anxious for these outcomes.

And in the midst of life’s uncertainties, we can easily fix our eyes so much on the outcome for which we’re waiting that we forget to live the trial.

…To live the trial well. To trust God today.

I know I do.

But if we overlook these “todays,” we overlook a precious gift God is giving us: A chance to trust Him. A chance to persevere. A chance to walk faithfully and uprightly even when we don’t have all the answers and life is difficult.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” James 1:2-4

When the storm has passed, it’s often easy to look back and see how God was at work.

It’s easy to see that He was working so many things together of which I had no idea. He molded me in ways that couldn’t have happened without this struggle. He was still good despite what I went through.

In retrospect, it’s easy to see that He had it all in hand, and to thank Him and eagerly share the story of His provision and goodness with others.

“In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.”  1 Peter 1:6-7

This is the challenge I have for us: not to put our heads down and wait for the grey, swirling unknowns to pass by, but rather to live for God, in the midst of the uncertainty.

We don’t get to go back and relive our days after we know their outcome.

Now is our only chance to live today well.

Faithfulness in trail is a great blessing indeed.

“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.” James 1:12

What uncertainties are you facing today? How is God calling you to live for Him, to live well, in the midst of the trial?

WOW WOW WOW is all I can say. God used you to send this to me. Thank you. I saw this a few days ago but didn’t have time to read it until now (after just getting home from visiting my dad in the hospital). When i first started reading I thought of my “unknown” as being the one related to money but then i read further & I knew it was also for the “unknown” of my dad’s health too. Thank you for this post!!
